OFALD Empowers Teachers Through Maiden Physical Inclusive Education Training in Osogbo
Olubukola Foundation for Autism and Learning Disabilities (OFALD) successfully hosted its maiden Physical Teachers’ Training in Osogbo, bringing together educators committed to fostering inclusive learning environments for all children.
The full-day training equipped teachers with practical knowledge and skills in inclusive education, early identification and intervention, communication support strategies, and behavioural management for children with autism and learning disabilities. Facilitated by experienced professionals, including OFALD Founder and Executive Director, Mrs. Adewumi Adeyemi, the sessions encouraged active participation and meaningful discussions on real classroom challenges.
Key topics covered included understanding diversity in the classroom, recognizing early signs of learning disabilities, introducing communication aids, and implementing effective behavioural support strategies. Teachers engaged in interactive activities, shared practical experiences, and explored solutions to challenges such as hidden disabilities, parental acceptance, gifted learners, classroom inclusion, and alternative assessment methods.
The training also provided a valuable platform for educators to ask critical questions about inclusive education in Nigeria and gain expert guidance on supporting learners with diverse needs.
Participants commended the quality of the training, the conducive learning environment, and the practical relevance of the sessions. Many recommended that similar awareness and training programmes be extended to parents and wider communities.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates, a vote of thanks, and a renewed commitment to advancing inclusive education practices across schools.
Through initiatives like this, OFALD continues to champion a future where every child, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.
